After a full week of homecoming festivities, the Thomas Dale student body and faculty along with friends and family gathered on Friday evening to watch the TDHS Knights battle against the Petersburg Crimson Wave. It was a night chock-full of football, roaring fans, and outstanding school spirit.
The homecoming court for Thomas Dale’s freshman, sophomore, junior and senior class started the night by parading on the track around the football field. These exemplary students were voted in by the majority of their classes prior to Friday night, and they would have their own section during halftime to celebrate.
At the end of the first half, the Knights displayed a dominant performance, scoring 28 unanswered points over the Crimson Wave. Although the game was less than exciting for those in the stands, it did not lessen the energy of the crowd what so ever. Members of the student section represented themselves in a “Pink Out” theme by wearing pink clothes and even pink paint. Everyone in the stands cheered, chanted and clapped after every big play by the Knights.
During halftime, it was time for the homecoming court to be recognized. With their faces full of joy, they wore beautiful dresses and formal ties. Each member of the court was announced by class and walked toward the stands from the fifty yard line as the crowd cheered them on.
As the band finished their routine, our varsity football team took the field once more and eventually defeated Petersburg 42-12.
