2016 gave us many hilarious and cringe worthy memes. We were left with Harambe, Obama and Biden, Arthur’s fist, Bernie vs. Hillary, Evil Kermit, and many more. Now only four months into 2017, it seems like memes have already taken over. Below are five of the most iconic memes of 2017 thus far, with a small explanation.
- Cash Me Outside, How Bow Dat?
This meme originated from the Dr. Phil show. The episode? … The “I Want To Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried To Frame Me For A Crime” episode, which included tough-talking Danielle Bregoli who had a few words to say to her mother, Dr. Phil, and even the audience. Follow the link to see the video of what she says to Dr. Phil and the audience. Since the episode, Danielle was known as the “Catch Me Outside Girl.” Her popular phrase has been turned into wild and strange remixes. It’s crazy what the internet can do these days.
- Winona Ryder’s Face
Upon looking at these various photos of Winona you can’t help but wonder, was she drunk? Maybe. But the facial expressions she made as the cast of Stranger Things, won the SAG Award for ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series’, deserves an award itself. Heck, she should win an Oscar for her facial expressions.
- Michelle Obama at the Inauguration
There’s not much explanation for this one. But we can all relate to Michelle’s pained expressions in one situations or another.
- What In Tarnation?
The cowboy hats explain everything. Enough said here.
- Winnie the Pooh Dancing to Everything
This one originated on popular social media site, Twitter. It’s a random video of a 3D CGI Winnie the Pooh dancing around to whatever music you put in the background. This is a personal favorite of mine.
And there you have it, five of some of the most popular memes of 2017 so far! May we be gifted with more as the year goes by!
