You have seen them on the sidelines, pep rallies, and performances. They flip, jump, turn, and show their artistic ability for school spirit. The Knightettes are Thomas Dale’s Dance Team and they are more than just a regular team.
The dance team has participated in the homecoming football game halftime shows, danced on the sidelines at every home football game, and at every pep rally. Not only do they dance at Thomas Dale, but at competitions and camps across Virginia.
On November 3rd, the dance team will attend the their first competition of the season, the Lancer Dancer Invitational. This isn’t the only competition you can see them perform. They also compete at the Kelly Green Invitational and the Lee Davis Invitational.
In the past, the dance team has won first place in dance events like Jazz, Kick, and Pom.They have also won overall Grand Champions.
When speaking with one of the Knightettes members, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Rusnak (10th Grade), she wanted people to know that “The dance team isn’t strictly Specialty Center dancers, it is open to anyone who has an interest in dance and school spirit!”
“Dance team is not only extremely fun, but also rewarding for each individual dancer. We all get to encourage each other in our dance path and become close as a team,” said Rusnak.
According to Rusnak, some of the best memories on the dance team are formed at the United Dance Associate (UDA) dance camp at University of Virginia every summer.
“The team really bonds not only because we’re spending four long, twelve hour days dancing together, but also doing something we all love,” said Rusnak.
The Knightettes are a team you don’t want to miss out on.
